Bread and Roses
Inspired by true events and based on the film by Ken Loach and directed by Paul Laverty, BREAD AND ROSES is the story of 25 year-old Maya, a young Mexican woman who crosses the US border and risks everything she holds dear in her fight for justice. Working as a janitor for the corrupt managers and owners of Building 646, Maya’s eyes are opened and she vows to disrupt the status quo. Families are torn apart, backs are stabbed, loyalties are tested, and Maya must ask herself how much she would be willing to lose to change the lives of her fellow workers, and the world, forever. The show has had developmental staged readings at NYMF and AMAS, both directed by Melissa Crespo.
